Northern Vietnam is home to many ethnic minority communities that live in extreme poverty. Harsh winters, difficult terrain, and limited agricultural resources make food security an ongoing challenge. When the situation reached a crisis point in early 2020, our partners on the ground sounded the alarm, and Empower Dreams donors responded with remarkable speed and generosity.

Emergency food packages were assembled and delivered to families in some of the most remote villages, places that can only be reached by hours of travel on unpaved mountain roads. Each package contained rice, cooking oil, and other essential staples—enough to sustain a family through the worst of the shortage. For many of these families, it was the first time anyone from outside their community had come to help.

Beyond meeting the immediate physical need, the food relief opened doors for our partners to share the love of Christ with communities that had never heard His name. As families received food with no strings attached, they began to ask why strangers would care about them. The answer, of course, was the Gospel—and many hearts were opened that day to hear it for the first time.
